Doodle, Mindfully

Inspired by The Zentangle Method, good old doodling, meditation and the Mandala art forms, the Zen UnTangles are Heart It Out’s way of approaching creative meditation.

The trademarked Zentangle Method™, created by Rick Roberts and Mary Thomas, is an easy-to-learn way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Psychology Today notes that while the process may look intricate, it is a deceptively simple pathway to relaxation and inner focus.

Over thousands of years, Mandalas have been symbolic for finding inner peace in Eastern Cultures. Mandalas are complex works of art that combine geometric patterns, religious symbolism, and layers of meaning to create a masterpiece.

Doodling has been present for as long as boring conversationalists or teachers have been present. Until recently, it’s presence in our lives was never questioned, except negatively. Modern research as told by the Harvard Health Review, has shown remarkable insights on how doodling actually increases our span of attention, and improves recall.

Because not all of us enjoy the traditional meditative practices, or have the space that creates an environment to practice it; modern psychologists are creating effective practices to bring the benefits of meditation into everyday lives.

The doodle workshop combines these practices of Art with therapy to stimulate your mental faculties. This workshop is designed to be inclusive for all age groups and packs some fun activities for kids!
